The layout of Aetoria During the Reign of King Miguel I

Aetoria is the capital of Tierra and is the greatest city in the realm. Prior to the reign of King Edmund II, Aetoria was a quasi-feudal collection of peasant huts and government buildings haphazardly thrown together. Under his rule the city was taken from one barely worthy of the name to the crowning jewel and the Unified Kingdom and assumed its place as one of the greatest cities in the Northern Kingdoms, earning him the moniker of the magnificent.

History:[]

Colonizations:[]

Aetoria was founded by Jan Kazimierz, an exiled prince from Octavian Court and the ancestor of House of Rendower. He had his personal retinue had initially landed in what is now Wulfram, and then mirgated to the current location of Aetoria. Using wealth gathered from banking industry and daft diplomacy with the local Kentauri Clans, Aetoria quickly expanded from a tiny fort into a local center, eventually becoming the largest city within the region. During the process, The Aetorian settlers either drove away the resisting Kentauri with sword and guns, or buy out their land with coins. With the last of the Kentauri Clans being driven out, House of Rendower had finally established their foothold, and restored its title of prince. Thus the Principality of Aetoria was founded.

Petty Kingdoms:[]

After Banedeath, the influences of the Great Powers quickly declined, and their former colonies quickly gain independence and becoming states of their own rights. Aetoria continued to prosper from their banking and other mercantile industry. As the rise of the Pirate King Kalid Kasaroja prevented the M'diyosshi Nobles from transferring their wealth to Takaran banks, Aetoria becomes a much safer, and closer option for storing their wealth and a place of refuge, should they lost their favor in court. The influx of wealth and noblilities made Aetoria prospers even without the benefit of natural resources in Wulfram or Cunaris. Although they are still not considered the top-tier nations on the island, they process the wealth and power that allows them to compete for the hegemony.

War of Unification:[]

After the triple alliance of Aetoria-Cunrais-Havenport was made to form the Unified Kingdoms of Tierra, they were set upon by multitude of enemies. This makes Aetoria, especially House Rendower, became the linchpin of this fragile alliance. Eventually, the war broke out between the alliance and anti-Tierra coalition when King Callum IV, refused to pay the massive loan he borrowed from Aetorian bankers, causing a financial crisis and bankruptcy of some. Aetorian, especially the bankers, were outraged by Callum's broken words and vowed to bring destruction to Leoniscourt. With the victory at Battle of Montjoy, the Unified Kingdom of Tierra defeated its greatest enemy on the land, and taken in both Wulfram and Salt Coast as part of the Kingdom. For this achievement, Edwin I crowned himself as the first King of the Unified Kingdom of Tierra, and set its capital in Aetoria. Thus, Aetoria had become not only the largest economic center, but also the largest political center in Northern Kingdoms.

Unified Kingdoms of Tierra:[]

With the Unified Kingdoms of Tierra founded, Aetoria becomes the largest political center of the nation. Without the presence of immediate threats, Its military structures quickly deterioriated, and its land wall were demolished to accommodate the ever-increasing population.

During the Reign of Edmund II, Aetoria went under a major reconstruction and renovation to make the city fit for its status as the capital. The series of renovations which led to both the construction of the shore batteries and the dismantling of much of the land walls also defined much of the current shape of the city itself—for the controversial King Edmund II had sought not only to modernise his capital, but to beautify it as well. To this end, he commanded that much of the upper city be demolished and rebuilt. Gone were the winding streets and overhanging eaves, to be replaced with what Aetorians sixty years later now refer to as the Upper, or New City.

The New City is a place reserved for Tierra's elite. Its broad and geometric streets are intended to accommodate the palanquins of the wealthy and the coaches of the aristocracy. Its fashionable neighbourhoods are filled with stately townhouses for the powerful and the small armies of servants who follow them. It is the home of the Royal University, where the children of high society are groomed for exalted office—and of the exclusive clubs, theatres, and opera houses where the high-born take their ease.

Although much of King Edmund II's grand ambition failed, the renovation and reconstruction of Aetoria's infrastructures paved the ways for its prosperity in both near and far future. The construction of Takaran Embassy, for instance, although not being used immediately, will served its purpose after Dozen Year War when Takara establish formal diplomatic relationship with Tierra. Takaran tourists would come to Aetoria and recognize the odd familarity to their captial of Varsovia. Since the reign of Alraic I and the victory over Antari navy during his namesake war, Aetoria slowing becomes the most wealthy city in Northern Kingdom and a major cultral center in the eastern part of Infinity Sea.
